Profit/loss, net value and exchange gains/losses of the insurance industry in December 2025

The pre-tax profit of insurance enterprises at the end of December 2025 was NT$193.7 billion; the pre-tax profit of life insurance enterprises was NT$156.9 billion, decreasing by NT$158.6 billion or 50.3% compared to last year, while the pre-tax profit of non-life insurance enterprises was NT$36.8 billion, increasing by NT$10.8 billion or 41.5%.
Owners' equity of insurance enterprises at the end of December 2025 was NT$2,884.8 billion; owners' equity of life insurance enterprises was NT$2,712.4 billion, going up by NT$126.4 billion or 4.9% compared to last year, while owners' equity of non-life insurance enterprises was NT$172.4 billion, going up by NT$21.3 billion or 14.1%.
As of the end of December 2025, the NT Dollar had appreciated by 4.27% against the US Dollar since the end of 2024, and the cumulative balance of foreign exchange valuation reserve of life insurance enterprises was NT$613.7 billion, increasing by NT$394.1 billion. Meanwhile, the combined impact of exchange gains/losses, hedging gains/losses and the net effect of volatility on the foreign exchange valuation reserve of life insurance enterprises was NT$-821.2 billion. Over the same period, the overseas investments of life insurers resulted in net gains (including exchange gains/losses and hedging gains/losses, but not including the net effect of volatility on the foreign exchange valuation reserve) of NT$518.5 billion.
