Taiwan is an island with a fold and thrust uplift in the sea. The mountain slope area accounts for 27.11% of our total land area and the high mountain area accounts for 45.77%, for a total of 72.88% of Taiwan’s land area. The rich mountain landscapes and abundant ecological resources are indeed a major portion of the nation’s wealth. As a result of the diversified types of mountaineering, and the physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits brought by sports and recreation which can be enjoyed without high expenses, Taiwan’s citizenry deeply enjoy these outdoor activities. The Financial Services Commission is also cooperating with the "Salute to the Mountains" public policies promoted by the Executive Yuan and the Ministry of Education. We also ask the insurance industry to review and complete a range of mountaineering insurance products to provide climbers with the certainty of protection. Thus, we remind climbers to ensure that before they go climbing, and have made all their preparations, climbers also obtain appropriate insurance tools to transfer and minimize risks.
